I always stock frozen bananas in my freezer. It simply because they are blend so well with any fruits similar like apple do. The reason why I freeze bananas, it is because I want to serve the smoothies in cold without adding ices. And also I didn't put any sugar/honey because I feel the banana already has natural sweetness.

When put the banana in the freezer make sure they are ripe enough. Usually I will wait for 1-2 days after I bought them. And also always buy fresh banana and put them in the freezer rather than bought the frozen banana in the store. They likely to have lesser potassium than the fresh banana that you freeze. Potassium is a very important mineral to the human body, they plays a vital role in regulating the fluid levels in your body

As in here in Singapore, I always bought Dole or Del Monte banana brand as they taste good and sweet. Let me know if you've tried other brand that is good too.

So here the simple banana smoothies recipes that I like to make.

Banana Smoothies

Ingredient

  • One Frozen Banana
  • One cup Greek yoghurt
  • 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice

How To make

Cut the banana into smaller chunks for smooth blend and combine it with the greek yoghurt into the blender. Put the lid on the blender and blend it.
You will need to drink or serve this immediately as banana will turn the colour into brown colour.

Recently many people are concerned to live in healthy lifestyle. Many people also has decided to go vegan or eating only raw vegetables and fruits. I am really appreciate them as I myself could not do it. I feel that I still could not resist the temptation to eat meat that is still taste delicious for me and I can't live without it. But I do aware that live in healthy lifestyle is about eating well and getting the balance right.

So recently I always make a smoothies everyday at my lunch time. Drink the smoothies alone really can feel full and could last till afternoon time and before my dinner sometimes.

This is one of my favourite smoothies that has mango, banana and strawberries inside.

Topped with chia seed and coconut flakes.

See the beautiful layered of the mango colour and strawberries. I love it. They taste as good as the looks too. The sweetness of the mango and banana compliment the strawberries sour taste.

Ok so here is the recipe of this beautiful smoothies.
For the Mango layered smoothies, you'll need this ingredients below and just blended it.
1. Half of Mango flesh
2. One frozen banana
3. 1/2 cup of low fat milk
4. 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
5. 1 tablespoon of Fine oats
6. 1/2 cup of Greek Yoghurt

I've separated the layered with chia seeds. I've read that this small seeds are great source of healthy omega-3 fats and fibre. As for the benefit of these seeds you can read it here.

For the Strawberries layered smoothies, you'll need this ingredients below and just blended it. But don't forget to washed the blender with water before you blend the next layer.
1. One cup of strawberries
2. 2 tablespoon of Fine oats
3. 1/2 cup of low fat milk
4. 1/2 cup of Greek Yoghurt

And you can topped it with another chia seeds and coconut flakes as you like.

So give it a try this easy and simple recipe.

I really really love macarons and I heard so many people talked about this soft macarons from Canele. I agree with them that their macarons are soft in the texture yet crunchy and just melted in your mouth. I bought another one box consist of 6 pieces and this time only for myself so that I can reviewed them one by one. They have many flavor more than 6 actually but different branch has different flavor. As example when I went to their branch at Shaw House, I did not see the vanilla flavor there. And when I went to their branch at Raffles City, I couldn't find the Pistachio flavor. So It really depends on your luck. hahaha

Here I will reviews 6 of the flavor that I tried in this box. I will update this post once I get to try the rest of their flavor.

The first macaron that I tried is Violette. They named it violette, cause it has violet flower cream inside. The smell of this macaron is very fragrant, especially after I bite it. The taste are slightly sweet and creamy. I will put this macaron as an optional choice.

This is the look of the macaron from the top. There is no additional topping on it.

The second macaron is Yuzu & Yogurt. Yuzu is a fruit from Japanese and it looks like a lemon. Although I have not see or hold them closely, but according to wikipedia, We can use the zest as a garnish or the juice to seasoning. It has the same function as lemon. When I ate this at the first time I can smell the citrus fragrance and the filling is melted in my hand eventhough I did not pressed it. Later on when I read in Canele website that this macaron is complimented with citrus yoghurt. Again I will put this macaron as an optional when I tempt to buy their macaron again. The store helper actually recommend this flavor than rose which I have no chance to tried it this time.

The look from the top. It is the same with the previous macaron that has no additional topping.

The third macaron is like heaven in my mouth. I've tried it twice and I am still fall in love. The chocolate flavor is like stuck in my mind and makes me want to eat more. The chocolate is rich and I can taste the dark chocolate but it is not bitter. They use Valrhona chocolate which is a French luxury chocolate and it is actually selected as the number one choice for leading pastry chefs and connoisseurs. That sounds interesting. I personally also never tried this chocolate alone. To be exact that they use 70% Valrhona coated with Guanaja chocolate cream which is written in their website. I absolutely loves this macaron and will definitely put in my first choice. Or maybe I will buy two pieces of them.

As you can see they coated on top of the macaron with a chocolate powder.

The fourth macaron was Vanilla macaron. Nothing special on this flavor. This is Vanilla macaron paired with fragrant Tahitian vanilla cream. Unexpectedly I can taste a litle bit of coconut flakes inside the macarons. But in their website they do not specified that they have use the coconut in their macaron. Maybe next time I will verify it with the store helper and update it in here.
For the next purchase I will not add this flavor in my list. I would rather choose other flavor instead.

The look from top. There is no topping on top of the macaron.

This flavor was the popular macaron among all. Many people always recommend to choose this flavor to try. So I just curious on how good is the taste. The name of this macaron is Fleur De Sel Caramel. Fleur De Sel is French language means 'Flower of Salt'. This salt is produce by artisan salt company and Canele paired it with caramel to create a perfect combination. The salt is acclaimed by many chefs as the best of all sea salt and good for finishing.
The caramel cream taste is so stand out and combine with a little bit salty taste from the macaron. I really surprised that I can try macaron that has salty flavor on it. The combination is perfect for me and definitely will add this flavor on my next purchase.

This is the look of the Fleur De Sel Caramel from top. I guess that they also powdered the cocoa powder on top of it.

The last macaron that I tried was Feuilletine. This macaron is using only Valrhona chocolate Caraibe with only 66% cacao combine with hazelnut praline. I can taste the crunchiness of the hazelnut. I feel like eating a cookies crunch. But still the chocolate noir macaron is the best for me. Feuilletine tasted more like milk chocolate.

Nuts are added on top of the macaron.

Must-tries: Chocolate Noir. Fleur De Sel Caramel.

Price : 2.50 per piece, 12.50 for a box of 6

We went to Indonesian food restaurant last night at Zion road. It is located at the opposite of Great World City mall which is quite far from the train station. You could only reach here by car/bus. But they do not provide the car park here so you need to park your car inside the mall. Or if you going by bus from Orchard mrt (the nearest train station) you could take the free shuttle bus to the GWC mall and cross the street. You can check the pick up location and their time schedule in their website. Other alternative if you going here by bus you can alight at opp GWC bus stop at Zion road or Kim Seng road. but if you alight at Kim Seng road you have to cross the street and go in to the mall to find the other entrace that face to Zion road. The name of the restaurant is Indochili by Java kitchen and it is operated in a landed property.

So we tried chicken satay and timbel rice here (couldn't translate the name of timbel but it is actually a typical food from Sunda, West Java, which is served with vegetables, chilli sauce and chicken or sometime spiced fish). What I like here is their satay, it is authentic and the taste are exactly the same with the one I had in Indonesia especially the peanut sauce. It is different when you compare to the typical chicken satay sell in Singapore. You can tell it by tasting the sauce. Timbel rice was average, not really special.

The good thing here is their place, they provide a great atmosphere. It is not too crowded so you can come with a bunch of people here to hang out cause they quite have a big space. I saw most of the people who came here are came in a group. Their service was not really good cause i just saw like 2 waiters including the cashier. So it was a little bit busy for them to served us who wants to add the food. It is almost like a self service. But they do charge for a service charge which is make the bill more expensive. Hahaha.

Price for the food is rather steep compare to other Indonesian food restaurant. I suspect maybe because the rental of the landed property is slightly expensive.
Overall I gave this restaurant a 3 star out of 5, cause the food not all of them tasted good, but the place is great. Location are quite difficult to reach and Price is more expensive. You guys can give it a try and let me know what do you think of this restaurant.
